Course Description

Epilepsy is often misunderstood with different facts and myths surrounding this neurological condition despite over 500,000 people in the UK have the condition. That’s one in every 100 people.

Arete Training Solutions is committed to enabling people and children living with epilepsy to reach their full potential by empowering their care and support workers; as well as their families.

Candidates will gain knowledge on the main effects of epilepsy and the importance of supporting people with the condition to take medication as directed by their doctor. This course will also explore the different types of seizures, diagnosis, and treatments, including the management of seizures and much more…

This course can be delivered as standalone ½ day session or together with Rescue Medication in one complete day as per your requirements.

 

Learning Outcomes

After this half-day course attendee will:

• Have an awareness of what Epilepsy is, causes, diagnosis, and treatments available.

• Able to recognise different types of seizure and how they present and recognise when a situation becomes an emergency and how promptly to deal with it.

• Know how to safely care for someone having a seizure and what to do post-seizure.

• Know what documentation is required following a seizure.

 

Assessment

The session is followed by a multiple-choice assessment designed to test learners’ understanding of the course. Test results are usually disclosed within two working days after attending the training. A certificate will be issued after the successful completion of the training course.
